MAJOR INDIVIDUAL AWARD
Wilkinson Sword Award
(Non-fishing award, refer to inside of back cover).
Vincent Coules Memorial Trophy
Major award of the BCFSA. Donated by members clubs of the BCFSA in memory of St. Vincent Froude Coules, founder committee members and past Chairman. Based against the BCFSA Record list for the best boat or shore caught fish within the BCFSA area. Presented with a memento.
BCFSA Runner-up Award
Presented by the BCFSA for the next best specimen taken from the BCFSA area. Should the Vincent Coules Trophy be for a boat caught fish the runner-up Award is for a shore caught fish and vice-versa. Based against the BCFSA Record list. Presented with a memento.
Ted Cockram Junior Trophy
Presented by E. Cockram past Vice President of the BCFSA. Awarded for the best specimen taken within the BCFSA Area. Boat or Shore. Based against the BCFSA Record list. A Junior is a members who has not attained the age of 16 as at the date of capture. Presented with a memento.
Bridgwater Conger Shield
Presented by Bridgwater SAC. Awarded for the best Conger taken within the BCFSA area, based against the BCFSA Record list. Boat or Shore. Presented with a memento.
Dolphins Skate & Ray Shield
Donated by Weston Dolphins SAC for the best specimen Skate or Ray taken within the BCFSA area. Based against the BCFSA Record list. Boat or Shore. Presented with a memento.
Don Metcalfe Shark Trophy
Presented by founder member and President, Don Metcalfe. Awarded for the best specie of the shark family, excluding the lesser spotted dogfish. Taken within the BCFSA area. Based against the BCFSA Record list. Presented with a memento.
George Gale Memorial Trophy
Presented by the BCFSA for the best specimen flatfish taken within the BCFSA area. Boat or Shore. Based against the BCFSA Record list. Presented with a memento.
Peter Smith Memorial Trophy
Presented to the BCFSA by Ann Smith. In memory of her Husband Peter, past chairman and committee member of the Federation. Best specimen bass taken within the BCFSA area. Based against the BCFSA Record list. Presented with a memento.
RAF Locking Trophy
Presented by RAF Locking SAC. Awarded to the individual who amasses the most points during the series of BCFSA boat contests. Presented with a memento.
Man of Steel Trophy
Presented by Man of Steel SAC. Awarded to the individual who amasses the most number of points during the BCFSA interclub shore contests. Presented with a memento.
Aggregate Shield
Awarded to the individual who amasses the highest percentage during a series of BCFSA small boat contests. Based against the BCFSA specimen. Presented with a memento.
HTV Trophy
Awarded for the best fish of a nominated species taken in the BCFSA Open Competition by a member of an affiliated club. Presented with a memento.
Mustad Hook Trophy
Awarded for the best fish of a nominated species taken in the BCFSA Open Competition by a member of an affiliated club. Presented with a memento.
Les Bennett Trophy
Presented by Les Bennett past secretary and committee member of the BCFSA. Awarded for the best specimen fish taken on a boat, from all British waters excluding the BCFSA area. Based against the British Record. Presented with a memento.
Man of Steel Shield
Presented by Man of Steel SAC. Awarded for the best specimen taken from the shore, from all British waters excluding the BCFSA area. Based against the British Record. Presented with a memento.
Species Trophy
Presented by the BCFSA. For the greatest number of sizable different species by the same pair of anglers within the inter-club shore matches.
MAJOR TEAM AWARDS
Ivor Wilkins Memorial Trophy
Presented annually to the team with the most points during the BCFSA Boat contest.
Presented to the team with the most points during the BCFSA shore contest
Browning Trophy
Presented to the BCFSA by the late President G Mackay for a Shore contest fished annually. Teams of Ten. Only one team per club, top total length decides the winner.
MISCELLANEOUS AWARDS
Best of Species Medal
A medal is awarded annually, for the best specimen of each species entered, boat and shore into the Specimen Fish Competition. BCFSA area only. (Refere to Specimen Certificates).
Specimen Certificates
Certificates are awarded for every fish entered into the BCFSA Specimen Fish Competition above the weight listed. A Bronze certificate for fish up to 20% over weight, Silver between 120 and 140% and Gilt of 140% or more. BCFSA area only. An option to purchase medals is available.
Fish of the Month sponsored by Colin’s, Weston-super-mare & Masterline International
The best percentage specie based against the BCFSA Specimen list, whether boat or shore. Presented monthly. BCFSA area only.
Unclassified Awards
During the shore contests, boat contests and small boat contests, funds are raised or entrance fees charged, these go for other awards that the respective organising secretaries feel are necessary to stimulate interest in their section. The winners of these awards are informed at delegates meetings. Refer to page 31.
National Certificates
Certificates are awarded for the best of each specie recorded from both sections, boat and shore. Fish must be taken outside of the BCFSA specimen sizes. Only one certificate per specie per section per year. An option to purchase medals is available.
British Record Award
Any angler of an affiliated club who sets or equals a ratified British Record will be awarded a specially engraved trophy. Within or without the BCFSA area. Boat or shore.
B.C.F.S.A. CONSERVATION AWARDS
N.S. & C. Conservation Shield
Presented by North south and Central SAC for best boat or shore caught tope within the BCFSA area. Weight ascertained by formula of Girth x Girth x Length (in inches) ÷ 800 = weight in pounds. All fish to be returned alive. Entries eligible for Specimen Certificates but ineligible for any other Major Award. Refer to pages 13, 18 & 52. Presented with a memento.

For the best specimen fish, boat or shore caught and based against the Irish record. All fish can be weighed where caught and returned alive. Tope and larger sharks can be ascertained by formula method as can large skate, these also by the skippers judgement. All fish to be from Eire (
Boat Conservation Certificate
For all boat caught fish which are weighed or weight ascertained by formula and returned alive where caught. BCFSA area only.
International Certificate
For any outstanding specimen fish, boat or shore caught anywhere in the world seas. Photographic proof or witness of capture needed. To be awarded at the discretion of the BCFSA committee.

Please remember that all your entries are to be with the Fish Recorder within 28 day of capture. They will not be accepted after this time.
